My brother gave me Offspring Americana and 311 Soundsystem for x mas when I was little, first cds I ever owned.

I got two at the same time - Mariah Carey ‘Daydream’ and Rod Stewart something or other. Thank you, 1994.

When we first got the family CD player my dad and I went out and bought Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers Full Moon Feverand The Little Mermaid soundtrack.  I got my own CD player when we first moved to NY and along with it I got Mariah Carey Musicbox and Ace of Base The Sign. This explains a lot.

Oh wait, maybe it was Musicbox. Whatever came out around the time when I still thought scrunchies and multiple colored socks were cool. Oh and wearing small floral print dresses to the school dances.

When we got the family CD player my sister and I selected ZZ Top Eliminator and Fine Young Cannibals The Raw & The Cooked.  Yes, I’m odd, but I still love the songs that made me pick up those CDs in the first place.  When I was 12 I bought a record player and used to tote Billy Joel’s The Stranger and U2’s Unforgettable Fire and Joshua Tree around junior high with me, as though having the music in my possession at all times said something or would help me absorb it more.

Tie.  I got Ace of Base, Spin Doctors, and Madonna’s Bedtime Stories for Christmas one year.  Amazing
